Dear Alumni, 6 th August, 2008
We at your alma mater have great pleasure to be in touch with you. For both of us, it is nostalgic memories down the lane. We do hope you are making steady and significant progress in your professional and social life. You might have changed career path, got a promotion, shifted your place – city / country of work and residence, got married, and blessed with off springs, just to mention a few mile stone in one’s life.
It will be a great pleasure to receive you and your friends with your family, next time when you are in Chennai or cross Avadi and take you on a short tour to your alma mater and to meet your faculty over a cup of tea or lunch and munch our respective growths.
We have now a separate Alumni centre located in the first floor of the Central Junction, just opposite to our Physiotherapy College. Welcome.
Just to keep you informed, we append the list of some significant steps we have initiated / taken during 2007 – 08, which we hope, will make you feel proud.
You know, the Alumni fund is also growing and earning. We decided in the last Alumni Meet held on 26 th Jan 2008, to create a corpus and to award Scholarships to the deserving students. Quite a few alumni have come forward to share their prosperity to help someone in need. As you are aware, our Chairman’s heart is with the welfare of students and their progress and prosperity. Now, he has decided to institute an Alumni Achiever Award to be presented during our annual Alumni Meet. It is like the great sage Thiruvalluvar’s saying – a father feeling proud to know the achievements of his child and the adoration it has received from the world.
We have also launched a website for Alumni to freely interact and exchange views and opinions. You know the family is more than 10,000 times strong and growing stronger. This growth in no small measure is because of you – the pioneers who have carried the flag of Vel Tech to the nook and corner of the globe. While we hold the hands of the present day students to cheer up and dream, we proudly point our index finger at you as proof.
Another small step we have taken at the Alumni Centre is that your parents when in the vicinity could always drop in and make a call and talk to you during working hours time zone permitting.
Let’s be in touch. Meantime spare a few minutes of your time to share your progress in the proforma attached & mail back. We want to create an excellent network of alumni, which will be of great use to both of us.
